An outing in the forest - with tarte à la fraise

It has been such an Indian Summer! So we went out to the forest on Sunday afternoon. We walked, and the boys took their bikes. Such a beautful forest. And all of a sudden, there was a clearing, and the immense view to a classic Normandy scene opened up to us in the valley below.

Natalya was sure to bring a little "gouter" (snack), consisting of goodies from the Boulangerie. Everyone had their favorite in the sack, to be carefully pulled out when we put the blanket down for a rest.

Maxime had his "religieuse", named because it is stacked like a church steeple. Gabriel had both of his favorites: strawberry tarte and, that's right, a croissant. Papa had a "financier", which is hard to explain, but they are amazingly simple, and therefore the beauty is in that simplicity. Mama didn't have anything, but she got a kick out of watching us eat them.

*Gabriel loves tarte a la fraise, but he is also always very insistent to ensure that everyone else has enough, too. He positvely never gives up until you have some, too*
*And now the croissant*
*Maxime and Gabriel try the steep hill. First on foot, then on bike*
