It must be the same trend everywhere, too, but here the kids have these little bracelets, made of interwoven rubberbands. The rubberbands are really small, but children, with their dexterity and patience, don't notice this.
When Maxime returned from camp, he brought me one.
"I made it exprès (specially) for you." he said, in his usual mix of French and English, with the occasional errant Russian tidbit escaping before he has a chance to notice it.
The bracelet was in green and yellow.
"Your two favorite colors," he said with a smile, as he handed it to me.
I didn't take that bracelet off. Afer a month, it wore out.
Today, I asked Maxime if he could make me a new one, but I wasn't sure if he had still a collection of rubber bands. He did, and he asked what colors I wanted. I said: any except black. Happy colors, please. He said, okay Papa. And the result was the one pictured above.
Maxime: "You don't have to wear the bracelet just because it is from me."
"But I want to, for just that reason."
