Maxime is on the right in the above photo.
It's hard to believe it is our boy! Look at his body, will ya? Where did the little Maxime Bulik go???? I keep pushing him down on his shoulders, and tell him not to grow any more, but that boy just does not listen.
While we are on the subject of the photo, I cannot pass up the opportunity to at least note his "form" vs his neighbor's "form". I don't know much about these things, but it sure looks like Maxime is a coiled spring.
This race was freestyle, 50m (up and back).
He was slicing through the water in his typical clean, concise, beautiful-to-look-at style.
He emerged from the dive I think second or third. But after only a few seconds, he pulled into the lead. He led to the wall, but this huge string bean of a guy who must have been sixteen years old, maybe even twenty-nine, emerged from the flip a tad ahead, and he held onto that lead, more or less, till the finish. Maxime was second. He did a terrific job, and was the most elegant swimmer in the pool, no question about it.

He's such a sweetie pie. He takes it all in stride. In fact, he takes pretty much everything in stride. LOL. Mr. Unflappable.
He gets that from his Dad.
Not.
Maxime is not really into racing, per se. Or not really into winning. He just loves to swim, and that's that.
