On school days, Maxime gets up at 6.45, descends to the kitchen, turns on a cartoon, and fixes himself a bowl of cereal. At 7.20, he goes to the end of the drive and waits for the bus.
He has done this by himself for two years. He has missed this bus once.
We, on the other hand, get up later. And even if we didn't, I'm sure I would miss a lot more buses than that.
The other day, we came down to the kitchen, Maxime having already left, and we find the glass cereal jar, now minus a lid but with cling wrap in its stead, resting on the counter with a note in front of it.
The note reads:
"I broke it. Excuse me, Mama."
If anyone wanted an efficient little window into Maxime, a concise example to understand his "way", this would do as well as any.
