Mama is very happy because Maxime keeps on with his piano. He has a lesson once a week, and I guess we are always just waiting for him to say he doesn't want it any more. But he does.
I think it is teaching him good things. Not melodies as such, I mean, but rather: that perserverance brings true rewards.
He already worked through this once, in the beginning, when he wasn't picking up certain melodies perfectly on the first go-around. He wanted to quit then, in the beginning, saying he couldn't do it. But he has stuck with it, and I think he sees now the rewards that come with not quitting.
Whatever the ultimate thinking behind it, there is nothing sweeter to Natalya's ears than to hear his music echoing down the stairwell to the kitchen below.
