Children have a sixth sense about adults, there is just no question about this. They know when adults are sincere or are not. This they can ascertain the very second an adult pulls up in a car, opens the door, and greets at a distance.
Golly, they must really wonder why adults act like they do, and can't just be honest all the time. Haha.
We can learn so much from children, if we atune ourselves to their perspective.
It is fun, too.
But the exacting side of it can be tough. Children are a hard task master. They see all of you, not just your strengths. Even when you don't know you are "showing" your weakness, it must be glaring for them nonetheless.
The other day, for example, as Maxime and I sat at the table, getting something organized, he says to me with a wry smile:
"Don't be so nervous. You are going to turn into Darth Vadar soon."
Then he starts breathing like Darth Vadar. You know, the very audible, mechanical sound. :-)
